I have been having difficulties with using my laptop PC internet connection as a hotspot in order to browse with my other devices like smartphone,tablet. The software I know that would let me use the internet on my laptop with my smartphone was connectify. Most people always recommend connectify but the truth is connectify isn’t free anymore.
Nowadays they charge bills i would describe as high. Why would you pay for a software to perform a particular feature that another software offers for free. I carried out research and found two software which works well to share my Laptop PC internet connection as hotspot and enable my tablet and android to browse via wireless. With the high cost of data nowadays you can opt to browse and chat with the internet shared from your PC to your android phone.
Here are the free softwares you can use to share your computer internet with other devices.
1. MyPublic Wifi
MyPublicWiFi turns your computer into a WiFi Access Point complete with Firewall and URL Tracking. Not only can you share your PC internet connection via this software, you can also track the urls that devices connected to your hotspot are accessing. 2. Virtual Router -WiFi Hotspot
Virtual router turns any windows computer into a Wifi Hot Spot using Windows’ Wireless Hosted Network (Virtual Wifi) technology.It is compatible with windows 7,8 and 10 as well as windows server.However it does not track urls visited by connected devices. If you are looking for something simple, download the Virtual Router but if you need extra control over your hotspot connection, you can opt for the MyPublic .
To setup and configure Virtual Router-WiFi hotspot, follow the following steps:
1.Download Virtual Router-WiFi-hotspot from the link I have given above.2.Install it on your Windows PC.
3.Open the Virtual Router Manager and type in a Network Name (SSID).
-This could be any name for example "MyWifi".
- Set up a a password. It should be at least, 8 characters and please remember this password because it will be required by other devices connecting to your PC connection.
-Select the internet connection thatyou want to share.
4.Now click on Start Virtual Router Manager. If it starts successfully, turn on wifi on the mobile device or tablet,Look for a hotspot with the name you used as SSID,Tap on it and enter the password to connect. Do not share your password to prevent unauthorized devices from connecting and using your data.
